RunYourNumbers is operated by ShellRick Tech Pty Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"), a responsible party under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 ("POPIA"). This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built RunYourNumbers so anyone can use our calculators without creating an account — registration is entirely optional.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

If you choose to register, we collect your email address and password (stored securely, never in plain text) to create your account. If you save a calculation, we store the inputs and results you submit (for example, principal amount, interest rate, and time period) linked to your account.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies that are strictly necessary to run the site (for example, keeping you logged in or remembering your currency preference) are always active. Non-essential cookies — advertising cookies from Google AdSense — only load after you click "Accept" on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site or contacting us, which re-shows the banner on your next visit. We do not use Google Analytics or any other analytics tool. How We Use Your Information

Advertising — Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Third-Party Vendors

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. These vendors' use of advertising cookies enables them to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.

How We Store and Protect Your Data

Account and saved calculation data is stored with Neon (Postgres) using row-level security so that only you can access your own saved calculations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Retention

We keep your account and saved calculations for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete the associated personal information within 30 days, except where we must retain it longer to comply with a legal obligation.

International Transfers

Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our database provider (Neon) run the servers that power RunYourNumbers in Frankfurt, Germany, on Amazon Web Services infrastructure. This means your account details and saved calculations are processed and stored outside South Africa, in the European Union. Google AdSense also processes data on servers located outside South Africa, including in the United States. Where your personal information is transferred internationally, we rely on our providers' contractual safeguards (including standard contractual clauses) and, for EU-based processing, the protections of the EU's GDPR, to ensure it receives a level of protection that is substantially similar to POPIA, as required by section 72 of POPIA.

Your Rights Under POPIA

As a data subject, you have the right to:

• Be informed that your personal information is being collected, and why
• Access the personal information we hold about you, free of charge for the first request in a 12-month period
• Request correction or deletion of inaccurate, irrelevant, or unlawfully obtained personal information
• Object to the processing of your personal information, including for direct marketing purposes
• Withdraw consent to processing (such as analytics or advertising cookies) at any time, without affecting processing that already took place
• Lodge a complaint with our Information Officer, or directly with the Information Regulator, if you believe your information has been processed unlawfully

Children's Privacy

Under POPIA, a "child" is anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and processing a child's personal information requires the consent of a competent person (such as a parent or legal guardian) acting on the child's behalf. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without that consent, contact our Information Officer so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
